Aaron Krause

Mr. Krause was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  He was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mequon, Wisconsin. He graduated from Luther Preparatory School in 2001. Upon graduation from Martin Luther Colllege, New Ulm, Minnesota, Aaron was assigned to Bethany Lutheran School.  Throughout his 11 years at Bethany, he has served the school in many positions, including athletic director and coach. He currently serves as principal and 8th grade homeroom teacher.

Aaron enjoys coaching many different sports at Bethany including soccer, basketball, and track. He also coaches Varsity football at Manitowoc Lutheran High School.

Aaron is married to Ruth, and they have four children, Makiah, Aaden, Laila, and Clay.


Keturah Hochmuth

Keturah was born in Mesa, Arizona and was baptized at Calvary Lutheran church in Chandler, Arizona. She then moved to Saginaw, Michigan where her dad has served and still is serving as the pastor of St John’s. Michigan is where she grew up so needless to say she am a huge Wolverine fan. She went to St. John’s Lutheran grade school, and graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary in 2000. She then attended Martin Luther College in New Ulm MN. She received an emergency call to finish teaching first grade at Trinity Lutheran in Neenah, Wisconsin. After teaching in Neenah, she graduated from Martin Luther College in 2005. 
Keturah was assigned to teach first and second grade at Zion Lutheran in Columbus, Wisconsin in 2005. She was then called to Mt. Lebanon Lutheran in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was there for three years teaching Kindergarten then fourth grade. In 2010 she started teaching at Christ/St. Peter Lutheran in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she taught fourth grade for two years. In 2013, she taught Science for grades 6-8 at  St. John’s in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and in 2014 she was able to teach 8th grade History and upper grade Physical Education at St. Paul’s in Muskego, Wisconsin.
Keturah's husband received and accepted a call to teach at St . John’s in Maribel, Wisconsin, so they then had the great adventure of moving in 2015. That same summer she was called to fill in to teach seventh and eighth grade at Immanuel Lutheran in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She now has the wonderful privilege to teach seventh and eighth grade Language Arts and fifth grade religion.

 is married to Philip Hochmuth, (Phil) and they have been blessed with three children, Anya (8), Colt (6), and Guinevere (2).

Matt Manthe

Matt Manthe was raised near a small southern Minnesota town “where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average.” He attended St. John Lutheran School in rural Janesville (Alma City) from Kindergarten through grade 6. After the School closed, he attended Waldorf-Pemberton High School for grade 7 through 9. He then transferred to Martin Luther Academy in New Ulm, Minnesota to finish out his high school years. He attended Dr. Martin Luther College (New Ulm) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1980.

Mr. Manthe was assigned to Martin Luther Preparatory School in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, where he served as a piano instructor. In 1982 he was assigned to St. Peter Lutheran Church and School in Helenville, Wisconsin. It is here that he met Ruth Koeller, a teacher in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. They were married in 1986. While in Helenville children, Sarisha and Akasha, were added to the family. In 1990 Mr. Manthe earned a Masters degree from the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater.
After 14 years in Helenville, Mr. Manthe accepted a call to serve Bethany Lutheran Church and School in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. In both congregations he taught middle to upper grades, directed choirs, and played organ for church services.

In February of 2001, the family travelled to India to bring home Shalin and Avinash. In December Ruth was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She entered eternal glory in August of 2002. In June of 2005 Mr. Manthe married Linda Quint, a teacher in Reedsville. They had known each other at DMLC.
Their four children all graduated from Manitowoc Lutheran High School. Sarisha is married and has given us three beautiful grandchildren; Akasha lives at home and works at Perkins; Shalin lives in Manitowoc; and Avi attends the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater.


Dan Schulz

Mr. Dan Schulz was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He was baptized at St. Lucas Lutheran Church in Kewaskum, Wisconsin and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He graduated high school from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in 1992. Upon graduation from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, he was assigned to teach chemistry and algebra, and to serve as a coach at Shoreland Lutheran High School, in Somers, Wisconsin.   Dan earned his master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2002.  He received a call to teach 5th-8th grade science and to be the 6th grade homeroom teacher at Bethany Lutheran School in 2018.
Dan has served in many positions including: science teacher, math teacher, basketball coach, football coach, track coach, weightroom coach, department head, and class advisor.
Dan enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking, swimming, hiking, doing home-improvement projects, and reading God’s Word.
Dan is married to his dear wife Heather, and have been blessed with eight children: Caleb, Isaac, Josiah, Lydia, Selah, Ezra, Simeon, and Hope.

 


 


Heather Garceau

Heather Garceau was born, baptized, and confirmed in the lakeshore area. She graduated from Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minnesota, in 1998 and was assigned to Bethany Lutheran School. She has taught many different grade levels at Bethany in her tenure. She currently teaches grades 5 and 6 Language Arts among a variety of other classes.  She is the grade 5 homeroom teacher.

Heather is married to Timothy and they have two children, Korey and Jena.  She considers it a rare blessing to be able to hold a call in the very area that she was born and raised in.


Amanda Koch

Everyone’s favorite fourth grade teacher, Amanda Koch, was born in Park Ridge, Illinois and grew up in Downers Grove, Illinois (both suburbs of Chicago). She was baptized in 1987. She attended Good Shepherd for her entire grade school career where her mother, Barb, was her 3rd-5th grade teacher and she tried to avoid her younger brother, Jon. On June 1, 2001 was confirmed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Downers Grove, Illinois. She continued her Christian education at Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, Wisconsin and graduated in 2005. She went on to Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota and graduated in 2010.

After college graduation, Amanda returned to Downers Grove where she taught computer and first grade for two years in a part time capacity. It was an interesting experience to be back at her old grade school and be on the other side. In 2012, Amanda received a call to teach first grade and coach sports at Bethany in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She taught first grade two years, but in 2014 she made a switch to fourth grade at Bethany. Amanda enjoys making her students laugh and giving them nicknames, but her favorite is when they look at her in bewilderment.


Lisa Kanitz

Lisa Kanitz has served at Bethany Lutheran School for over 20 years at various grade levels.  She currently serves as the morning third grade teacher as well as the Learning Coordinator.  She graduated from (Dr.) Martin Luther College (MLC) in New Ulm, Minn. with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1993.  She holds a Wisconsin Teaching License.  She also holds a Wisconsin Reading 360 License. 


Wendy Foelske

Wendy Foelske was born in Watertown, WI.  She became a member of God’s family through baptism at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Watertown, WI. 
     After living in WI for four years, her family moved to Morton Grove, IL where she attended kindergarten through fifth grade at Jerusalem Ev. Lutheran School. She then attended sixth through ninth grade at St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran School in Winona, MN.  Her enjoyable high school years were spent at Luther High School in Onalaska, WI.  Because she wanted to be a WELS teacher like her parents, she enrolled at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN, after high school. 
     When there was a shortage of teachers in some of the WELS schools, she agreed to leave college after three years and teach grades 1-7 in a one-room school in East Brunswick, NJ.  The school was Our Savior’s Ev. Lutheran School.  She taught there for one year and then returned to Dr. Martin Luther College to finish her education and graduate.  Upon graduating she received a call to teach first and second grades at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran School in Plymouth, MI. 
     After teaching in MI for one year, she married Wayne Foelske, who she met while teaching in NJ, and moved back to New Ulm, MN while Wayne finished his education at DMLC.  While living there, she taught part-time at Trinity Ev. Lutheran School in Nicolet, MN, for one year.     
     Mrs. Foelske then gave up teaching as a career for 18 years to raise a family. (She stayed in touch with teaching by subbing when she was needed.) 14 years ago she received a call to teach part-time at Bethany Ev. Lutheran School in Manitowoc, WI, where she has been teaching ever since.
     Mr. and Mrs. Foelske have 5 children and 4 children-in-law.  They also are the proud grandparents of 5 wonderful granddaughters.


Sarah Augustine

Mrs. Augustine was born in Appleton, WI.   She was baptized at Bethlehem in Hortonville, WI and confirmed at Mt. Zion in Kenosha, WI.  She graduated high school from Shoreland Lutheran High School in 2002. Upon graduation from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, she was assigned to Prince of Peace in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She received a call to teach 2nd grade at Bethany Lutheran School in 2018. Throughout her ministry, Sarah has served in many positions including Sunday School coordinator, music director, and coach.
Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and friends, doing graphic design, and spending time outdoors (mostly at her children’s sporting events).
Sarah is married to Eric, and they are blessed with four children; Aiden, Ethan, Emily, and Isaiah.
 


Jill Plocher

Mrs. Plocher graduated from Martin Luther College in 1997.  She was called to teach grades  K-2 in Bylas, Arizona on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation.  She taught K-2 for one year and then received her second call to teach Kindergarten in Peridot, AZ.  She and her husband, Martin Plocher, and their four children lived with the Apache people for 10 years.  In 2009 Mrs. Plocher moved to Manitowoc, WI where her husband received a call to teach at Manitowoc Lutheran High School.  Mrs. Plocher received a call to teach at Bethany Lutheran School in 2010. She taught fourth grade for three years and is currently teaching first grade.


Andrea Jost

Mrs. Andrea Jost was born in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church. She graduated from Manitowoc Lutheran High School in 2009. Upon graduation from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, she accepted a call at Trinity Lutheran School in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. She received a call to teach Kindergarten at Bethany Lutheran School in 2018. Throughout her ministry, Andrea has served  in many positions including teaching VBS and coaching.
 
Andrea enjoys going up north, playing card games, and spending time with family and friends. Andrea is married to Joseph Jost.
